Our NEW Crafternoon Tea!

Thinking about things to do in the Lake District this October and November now the weather is changing, and the days turn cooler and mellower? Perhaps you are thinking; Autumn in the Lake District – spectacular; a proper Lake District Afternoon Tea – delicious, a Lake District Afternoon Tea with friends – delightful, and with friends who’d enjoy an art and craft class – perfect!

What if I were to say ‘you can do it all – have your perfect day out, crafted by the team at The Gaddum, Brockhole and tailored by you’ – an Autumn Afternoon Tea in the Lake District with art and craft classes inspired by the stunning Lakeland landscape and with tea served in the fabulous Arts & Craft restaurant overlooking Windermere.

How? you may ask!

Well, take The Gaddum’s five-star reputation for creative baked delights and one of Brockhole’s popular craft workshops and you have elevated one of the best Lake District Afternoon Teas onto an entirely higher plain – and made a Crafternoon Tea!

The creatively delicious Crafternoon Tea is being served at The Gaddum at Brockhole on Windermere throughout October and November. All you have to do is select from a varied range of art and craft workshops, ideal for crafting beginners or anyone with a love of making who wants to challenge themselves with some guidance, and choose a time for your Gaddum Afternoon Tea experience.

What can you expect?

Whether it’s a return visit or your first Lake District Afternoon Tea at The Gaddum you are in for a real treat. Think attentively created handmade pâtisserie, the finest teas and flavoursome sandwiches served in beautifull rooms inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement of the late 1800s. (You may get some inspiration for your craft work from the William Morris wallpapers and fabrics or from the miniature baked artworks on your plate).

You can choice the rhythm of your day out at Brockhole. There are morning and afternoon craft classes so you can begin, end or punctuate your creativity with Afternoon Tea. You can spend time in the extensive gardens and Lake shore if you are looking for inspiration for your work of art, or to take in the fresh air and the magnificent view before you settle down to your craft class.

Smaller class sizes (a max of 6 people per session) have been designed to be a safe, relaxed and enjoyable experience where you can let your creativity flow and spend time with family, friends or meet people with a similar interest.

All you need to do is explore the range of art and craft classes in Brockhole’s Autumn/Winter programme. There are traditional crafts employing skills such as lino cutting, working with clay and glass mosaics and contemporary crafts too using fabrics and mixed media. Whichever craft excites you an experienced tutor will ensure that you don’t go home empty handed, and that you will have created a stunning craft piece to be proud of for your home or as a Christmas gift.

Just select ‘Crafternoon Tea’ when booking your craft class and then call The Gaddum to reserve your table on the date of your choice.

And there is a cherry on top of the handmade patisserie! Book a ‘Crafternoon Tea’ on Thursdays, Fridays or Saturdays and you will receive a special 10% discount on both the craft class and the Lake District Afternoon Tea.

For any specific queries about the art and craft classes at Brockhole please contact course leader Rosie directly at rosie.meredith@lakedistrict.gov.uk

Now that’s all sorted, relax and look forward to a fabulous day out in the Lake District and tick off a gift or two from your Christmas card list – what you don’t manage to make you can always find in the seasonal gift shop at Brockhole – or maybe a gift voucher from The Gaddum and share the experience again next year!
